twigTwig Privacy Policy

Twig: Visual Habit Tracker is developed by Artur Janas. This policy explains how the Twig app and its supporting website handle information.
Your habit data
Twig stores your intentions, habit names, chosen paths, weekly targets, completion dates, tree growth, archived trees and settings on your device. This information makes the habit tracker work. You do not need a separate Twig account.
When iCloud is available and enabled for the app, SwiftData and CloudKit can synchronise saved tree records through your private iCloud database. Apple operates this service. Twig does not send your habit records to a developer-operated server or make them public. The developer does not have access to your private iCloud habit records.
Twig shares a local copy of the selected tree with its own widgets through an Apple App Group so the widgets can display your progress. This is not sharing with other companies or other users.
Purchases
Apple processes payments and subscriptions. Twig uses StoreKit to check verified purchase entitlements, enable paid features and restore purchases. The app does not receive your payment card details. Apple may provide the developer with sales and financial reports under its App Store services.
Optional usage analytics
Twig asks before sending usage analytics. You can decline and use all the same features. If you allow analytics, Twig sends predefined screen visits and actions, event times, app version, the iOS platform label, tutorial step, first-run/replay entry point, preset/custom path category, purchase-plan category and purchase outcome. These help us understand onboarding, feature use and conversion.
A random identifier links events from this installation. It is not an advertising identifier, is not based on your IP address or device configuration, and is not used to match you across devices or other companies’ services. Reinstalling or turning analytics off resets it. This information is pseudonymous, not anonymous.
We do not send habit names, intentions, custom text, exported completion histories, transaction identifiers or raw purchase error messages. Analytics can record that a habit was completed or undone, without identifying which habit. Twig does not store location in its mobile analytics database.
The analytics service is our self-hosted Umami instance at analytics.ix-design.uk. Its application server runs on Railway in San Francisco, United States; the database runs on Neon in London, United Kingdom. Railway and Neon act as our processors/service providers for hosting and database operations. These infrastructure records are separate from usage analytics. We do not use them to derive the analytics installation identifier. Data may be processed outside your country by these providers under their service terms and data-processing arrangements.
Twig has no advertising, does not sell your data, and does not track you across other companies’ apps and websites. It does not request contacts, location, photos, microphone or HealthKit access.
Analytics retention and controls
Analytics events and their metadata expire after 90 days, with an hourly cleanup. Inactive installation and session records are removed once they have no activity remaining in that window. An active installation identifier can therefore remain longer than 90 days while it continues to have recent activity. If cleanup has not succeeded within two hours, the service stops accepting mobile analytics until cleanup succeeds again.
Unsent events are stored privately on your device for at most 24 hours, limited to 200 events and 256 KiB. Delivery is best-effort. The app stores limited purchase reconciliation information locally to avoid counting a verified purchase more than once; it does not transmit transaction identifiers.
Open “Usage analytics & privacy” in the habit-tree menu or membership screen to turn analytics off. This clears unsent events and resets the local identifier. It does not delete previously received events. To request deletion of those records, copy the analytics ID shown there before turning analytics off and email support@ix-design.uk. Without that ID, we may be unable to locate your pseudonymous records. Removing a tree does not remove analytics already received.
Infrastructure providers may temporarily process technical information such as IP addresses, request metadata, database events and diagnostic logs for service operation, security and troubleshooting. Railway retains accessible service logs for 7 days under our current Hobby plan, while Neon retains PostgreSQL logs for 3 days. These infrastructure log periods are separate from our own 90-day analytics retention. Providers may retain limited security, backup or legally required records for longer where necessary under their own data-processing and legal obligations. The ordinary log availability periods are not guarantees that all archived, backup or internal security copies are permanently deleted within those periods.
Our Neon database has a six-hour restore-history window. This is a recovery feature, not a maximum retention period for all provider backups. The providers’ privacy and data-processing information applies to their additional processing.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your saved trees remain until you remove them. Archiving a tree keeps its habits and history; it does not delete them. To delete a tree, open its settings, choose “Remove this habit tree” and confirm “Remove Tree”. Archived trees also have deletion controls.
Deletion of synced records is handled by iCloud and can take time to reach your other devices. Deleting the app alone does not guarantee deletion of iCloud data, device backups or copies retained on another device. You can manage iCloud storage and backups in your Apple account and device settings. Apple controls its own retention of purchases and transaction records. Deleting a tree or the app does not cancel a subscription; manage subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
Website and support
The Twig website does not add advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms or marketing cookies. Its hosting providers, OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, process network requests needed to deliver and secure the website; these can include IP address, browser information, requested URL and request time. Their own service policies apply to that processing.
If you contact the developer at support@ix-design.uk, the information you choose to provide is used to respond to your request. Please do not include private habit history, account details or other sensitive information. Support correspondence is retained as needed to address the request and meet applicable obligations.
Your choices and questions
You can edit or delete your habit data in the app and manage iCloud through Apple’s settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, or to complain to your local data protection authority. For information held only on your devices or in your private iCloud storage, the developer cannot retrieve it for you. For questions about this policy, use the support channel above without including sensitive details.
Changes and service policies
If Twig’s data practices change, this policy will be updated with a new effective date.
